Background Investigator Training for Law Enforcement & Public Safety
Why This Training Matters
A weak background investigation doesn't just risk a bad hire — it risks a lawsuit. Negligent hiring claims, discrimination complaints, and flawed investigations are among the most common ways law enforcement agencies end up in litigation, and courts routinely scrutinize whether an agency's background process was thorough, documented, and legally defensible.
Most background investigator training teaches the how. ProFirst goes further, because we've seen the what happens when it fails firsthand.
ProFirst Training and Consulting doesn't just train investigators — we also provide litigation support and expert witness services for cases involving negligent hiring, discriminatory practices, and flawed background investigations. That means the standards we teach in this course aren't theoretical. They're built from direct experience reviewing what goes wrong when a background investigation doesn't hold up — and what a legally defensible one actually looks like when it's challenged in court.
This course prepares your investigators not just to conduct a thorough background investigation, but to produce documentation and findings that protect your department if that investigation is ever questioned, challenged, or litigated.
